About Me

My name is Dominic and I am an Illustrator/Oil Painter.

My approach to illustration is to guide the viewer into a composition with color and light. While using colors that may be represented in the real world, certain colors are intentionally enhanced to add a vibrancy that may not be initially captured through a photograph. It is through these techniques that I hope to connect with the viewer, showing them a scene that evokes feelings of nostalgia and sentiment. When creating images, no matter what medium, the goal for me is to tell a story for the viewer.

Learning to draw before I could write, I have always been passionate about art. Being of Puerto Rican and Honduran descent, I have always been surrounded by bright colors and expressive art. Throughout my life, my parents have greatly encouraged me to explore my creativity. I would be given crayons or pencils when I was done with my homework as a child, and I would always prefer the brightest colors in the crayon box. Over time I strived to become a better artist and storyteller, leading to my pursuit in my BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design in Illustration. During this time, I wrote and illustrated my own book titled β€œThe Adventures of Isaac and Rex.” I want to continue to create works of art that express my culture, my childhood, and my exploration of storytelling.
